Wattie's Confirmed for Hawke's Bay Show
That icon of Hawke's Bay - Wattie's, is celebrating 75 years of Hawke's Bay harvests at the 2010 Hawke's Bay Show on the 20th to 22nd of October. Wattie's Pick of the CropT will be the naming sponsor for the Taste Hawke's Bay Marquee.
Wattie's will be featuring the Wattie's Kiwi Favourites Cookbook - a collection of best-loved recipes to celebrate 75 years of Wattie's in Kiwi kitchens. These books, together with limited-edition heritage t-shirts and recipes using Wattie's Pick of the CropT products will be available from the Wattie's stand in the 'Wattie's Pick of the CropT Taste Hawke's Bay Marquee'.
Brent Linn, General Manager for the Hawkes Bay A&P Society, says "the Wattie's Pick of the CropT Taste Hawke's Bay Marquee will provide foodies with hours of information and inspiration".
Cordon-Bleu trained, professional Home Economist Di Swann will be demonstrating how to create Self-Crusting Quiche, Boysenberry Tart and Cheese and Corn Mini Muffins (from the Wattie's Kiwi Favourites Cookbook) on Wednesday 20th and Thursday 21st from 11 - 11.30am in the Wattie's Pick of the CropT Taste Hawke's Bay Marquee.
PLUS Lana Garland, the Food In a MinuteR host will appear on Friday 22nd from 12.30 - 1pm to demonstrate Summer Plum Shortcake and Kiwi Summer Salad recipes (from the summer series of Food in a MinuteR). Lana will be available for a 'meet and greet' in the Wattie's stand inside the marquee. Lana relishes her role cooking in public and on television "I feel like I have been training for it for years. My first job was cooking in and later running a busy kitchen and over the last 15 years I've worked in restaurants. The best preparation though probably comes from having to cook great food on a budget for my family! I think of myself as a very practical person with a real love of New Zealand produce. My travels and experiences have opened my eyes to new flavours and ideas that I enjoy incorporating into delicious family food." she says.
Other fantastic events over the three days include celebrity chefs Paul Jobin and Neil Brazier creating superb spring-inspired dishes, a fast and furious "Ready Steady Cook!" competition with local politicians, The World's Fastest Omelette Man will challenge local children, Young Farmer contestants and the Tui Girls to an epic omelette-creating competition, plus there'll be saucy salsa and Fear Factor Food as well as local chefs teaching us their signature dishes.
