The cars are coming!
PRESS RELEASE
The cars are coming!
LIFE church, Mangere, are planning a 1960’s Movie Night on Saturday 13th November, in aid of the annual Christmas Box appeal.
For one night, LIFE Convention Centre at 110 Montgomerie Rd, Mangere, will become a 1960’s movie theatre. We can’t do the fake velvet seats or the cigarette smoke (!) but we can do the Queen, the pop corn, the icecream ladies, and an iconic movie!
We will be showing the original Paramount version of The Italian Job, with Michael Caine and Noel Coward.
The film is
about a gold heist in Milan that goes hilariously wrong, and
features the greatest car chase of all time. It claims to
have put the Mini on the map, but totally destroyed 23 of
them in the making! (Original Trailer)
The 1969 movie has
since grown to cult status, with its own fan club and href="http://www.theitalianjob.freeuk.com/"
target="_blank">website, and has been rated as one of
the top ten movies ever made. There has been one remake
based in Los Angeles, which apparently isn’t a patch on
the original with its droll Cockney humour. A third version
is currently being cast, and due to be filmed here in our
own Auckland!
Tickets for the 1960’s Night will be just $10 that includes a free ice-cream or bag of popcorn. There will be free entry for children under 10. There will be a supporting programme including 1960’s cartoons, Froffy Coffy and much more. Guests are invited to come in 60’s dress, with prizes for the best 1960s costumes, best kids costumes, hairdo, and car! Why not borrow a 1960’s car for the night and complete the picture? (Just don’t race it home!) Programme will start at 6.30pm.
