Northern Communications Centre - Fire Media Update
In
the period since midnight Saturday 23 January, the Fire
Service has attended 184 incidents related to the weather in
our coverage area (Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of
Plenty).
Of these 101 were in the Auckland Region and 83 in the other regions.
100 of these jobs were to flooding in properties , 10 to power line problems, 17 to roof and building damage, 53 to trees down and 4 to land slip and subsidence's.
The busiest period was from mid morning on Sunday until late afternoon. During Sunday evening the incidents continued at a lower rate with most out of Auckland incidents being in the Rotorua (31), Whakatane (11), Bay of Plenty(6), Waikato (4), South Waikato (2), and Taupo Districts (10).
In Addition Fire Service assisted with flooding to 30 homes on Herald Island and 15 homes and businesses at Maraetai during the high tides on Sunday morning and night.
