Wellington Zoo hosts Newtown neighbours BBQ
This Thursday, 27 January from 5-8pm, Wellington Zoo is hosting its 6th annual neighbours’ BBQ.
Every year the Zoo works with the Wellington City Council to invite its immediate neighbours, including Wellington City Council housing tenants, to visit the Zoo for free after hours.
“The neighbours BBQ is a great way for us to connect with our local community and get them involved with their Zoo” says Chief Executive, Karen Fifield.
“It is a great opportunity for our neighbours to come and learn about the animals that they live near. The evening is always great fun, with a free sausage sizzle, activities for kids, and talks from keepers”.
“We are delighted that the BBQ this year is being hosted by new Wellington Mayor Celia Wade-Brown, who has always been a great supporter of the Zoo.
“We love meeting our neighbours and we are sure the Mayor will too”.
