The Life Flight Trust responds to Christchurch Earthquake
The Life Flight Trust is responding to the Christchurch Earthquake with its Westpac Rescue Helicopter which was dispatched to help with the search and rescue effort yesterday and remains in Christchurch today to continue the work. Both of Life Flight’s fixed wing air ambulances are also responding.
Two adult patients were transferred on 22nd February to Wellington’s Intensive Care Unit and two others to Waikato hospital. Today, Life Flight’s air ambulances are moving two premature babies to Wellington hospital from Christchurch and two further adult patients from Christchurch to tertiary hospitals.
The Life Flight Trust will continue to offer air transfer assistance for as long as is needed to ensure that patients can reach tertiary services for medical emergencies outside of the disaster zone.
