Christchurch Casino appears to have escaped structural damage
SKYCITY Entertainment Group sends its sincere and heartfelt sympathy to the many families impacted by the terrible tragedy in Christchurch yesterday.
SKYCITY can confirm that all Christchurch Casino staff and customers were evacuated safely immediately after the 6.3 magnitude earthquake. Some staff and customers sustained minor injuries and were treated.
The Christchurch Casino is within the Christchurch Council’s state of emergency cordon, however it appears the Casino has escaped any major structural damage and has suffered only some superficial damage.
It is expected to be several days before any structural inspection of the property will be possible and until then Christchurch Casino will not be operational.
SKYCITY’s thoughts and support are with the people of Christchurch at this traumatic time.
