DW Homes aims to rebuild dreams amid devastation

Auckland-based builders DW Homes have announced they have set up a fund to assist the people of the Canterbury region recover from the devastation of the recent earthquake, and will be donating a percentage of their sales until the end of June into the relief fund.

DW Homes’ general manager Merv Giam, and other staff members, have family and friends directly affected by the disaster, and he says, as individuals and as a company they wanted to find some way to help.

“Like all New Zealanders, our team at DW Homes has been moved by the tragic events in the Canterbury region in recent days. Our staff share the sorrow of a country, and a region, and we all have friends and family whose dreams have been left in tatters,” Merv said this morning.

“At DW Homes, our motto has always been that we don't just build homes, we build dreams. For the people of Canterbury, it's now about rebuilding their dreams. Like so many, we feel we should be helping. That's why we've established a rebuilding fund to offer tangible support to those affected.”

For every building contract signed with DW Homes until the end of June the company will be donating a percentage to the fund, and has started it off with $1000 to get it underway.

“If you would like to support the fund, please contact our staff on 09 236 5150, call into our Colombo Road showhome in Waiuku, or get further details on our website, www.dwhomes.co.nz. Our heartfelt sympathies are with all those involved, and our respect and prayers are with the rescue teams and emergency services personnel,” Merv said.

“There is so much to do, so many dreams to rebuild, but with support from the country, Christchurch, and the region, can get back on its feet.”
