Julie Le Clerc lends her recipe for happier families

Julie Le Clerc lends her recipe for happier families to Home and Family Counselling

The smell of freshly baked scones handed out by mum when back from school or memories of dad tackling the barbeque on summer weekends form a significant part of memories for most New Zealanders.

Julie Le Clerc, Celebrity Chef and food writer feels cooking and sharing meals is such a great way to bond so Julie will be sharing her special secrets on preparing, cooking and presenting food that will wow your friends and family alike, at a fundraiser organised by Home and Family Counselling on Thursday March 17 at Wakatere boating club, Narrow Neck Beach to raise money for Family Counselling.

“ Cooking with and for family and sharing a meal around the table has been always been a great way to show loving and caring”, says Julie. “I am inspired by meals that family and friends have cooked for me and I recall as a child, I always had lovely home cooked meals. I would love more New Zealand families to give their children the gift of these precious memories.”

Julie gratefully acknowledges the special time she had in the kitchen with her mother watching her cook and later being allowed to experiment. “I recommend this to any family at whatever their stage of life. A grandma can give their grandchild a wonderful experience by making biscuits and snacks together ... and a teenager will talk so much more when pottering round the kitchen with you!

Sharing food, preparing and eating together is a great time for family communications and bonding. Apart from healthy relationships, it also builds healthy people, eating fresh home cooked food.
