Photographic auction to raise money for Christchurch
Popular Wellington bar the Backbenchers
in Molesworth Street will be holding a photo auction on
Wednesday from 6pm to raise money for those affected by the
Christchurch earthquake.
Photographers from throughout the country are donating photos free of charge. Many of these photographers will be present at the auction.
The auctioneer will be Wallace Chapman, who will be hosting his weekly live TVNZ7 show ‘Backbenches’ at the pub later that evening, from 9pm.
Organisers Matthew Beveridge and Dan Heald decided that an auction will be an efficient way to quickly raise money, and are using contacts through Wellington Photographic Supplies to source images for auction.
Beveridge expects to have more than 40 images to auction, and will provide an e-mail catalogue of images for anyone unable to attend on the night, but would like to bid.
Organisers are also on the lookout for more images from local photographers.
