Contract awarded for Lower Hutt’s new Square
Contract awarded for Lower Hutt’s new Square
Purser Contracting Limited has today been awarded the contract to construct The Square in central Lower Hutt.
The Square project will be a space for outdoor events, sculpture, exhibitions and leisure activities, located in the area between The Dowse, i-SITE, the court house, and Telecom exchange building.
It will deliver the second major project for council’s long term Making Places project. It will be constructed in two stages, with a break for Winter, by mid 2012 for less than the budgeted $2.4 million.
Mayor Ray Wallace says The Square is set to add vibrancy to Lower Hutt’s central city and is looking forward to the work starting.
“Work is expected to begin in early April and it’s going to be exciting to watch The Square take shape and become a real draw card for our city.”

* Purser Contracting’s recent projects include the Hutt Park redevelopment and the Harvey Norman excavation and site works. They also worked on The Dowse Art Museum car park and surrounds in 2007.
