Hamilton foodies get their Nosh

Opening day last Tuesday (Mar. 1) at the new Nosh Food Market in the city was the company’s most successful ever.

Nosh co-founder Clinton Beuvink says first-day sales in Hamilton were more than twice those on the day the flagship Mt Eden store opened in Auckland.

“And it has been hectic ever since,” Mr Beuvink says. “It’s confirmed, Hamilton is a foodie Mecca.

“Frankly the rush caught us a bit off-guard – we knew Waikato people liked their food but there has been no respite since opening. The staff have been fantastic – I wish we could clone them for future stores.”

Mr Beuvink says Hamilton shoppers have snapped up Proper Crisps, baby carrots and Pinot Gris.

“Also, meat lines such as free range chickens at $9.99 have been a huge hit as has French Brie, and we sold a week’s worth of free range eggs in two days – it has been across the store really.

“Plus, we’ve had lots of enquiries from the hospitality industry for opportunities to sell wholesale. We’ve even had the competition in checking us out – they are more than welcome to grab a trolley and collect some bargains.”

Mr Beuvink says customers have been telling the staff they love the store, it has good prices and excellent quality in an area where these have been historically hard to find.

Future plans for the store include opening an upstairs area which will include a demonstration kitchen.

With consumers in their droves flocking back to fresh produce and personal service, Nosh has seen sensational growth in Auckland and the Hamilton store is the company’s sixth to open in five years.

The store carries the full Nosh offering of the highest quality fresh produce, butchery, bakery, wine, seafood and delicatessen at competitive prices.

Nosh Hamilton is located on the corner of Mill and Ulster Streets in Hamilton Central.
