Mystery Creek farewells Magic fans with cash

Two Magic fans each won $500 in cash at last night’s game. Prizes were provided by Mystery Creek Events Centre as a ‘thank you’ to the netball public for their support of the games hosted by Mystery Creek since 1996.

Winners were Jenny Hogg of Hamilton and Raylee Price of Te Awamutu.

Monday 21 March marked the end of an era as the last Magic netball game was played at Mystery Creek Events Centre. Mystery Creek Events Centre has hosted netball for over 15 years with the first game hosted in 1996. Since then, 38 games and 5 NPC tournaments have been played at Mystery Creek.

Vanessa Richmond, Events Manager Mystery Creek Events Centre, and Sheryl Dawson, Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic CEO, thanked each other’s teams on centre court prior to the game for the long standing relationship.

The Magic won the game against the Vixens - 53 to 41.

Mystery Creek Events Centre is owned and operated by the NZ National Fieldays Society, which operates as a non-profit organisation. The Society gives its profits back to the community partly through sponsorship and support of events at the venue and it has supported netball to the value of $520,000 over the years.

Netball has been one of the largest beneficiaries of the NZ National Fieldays Society. Its departure from the venue frees up support funds to be funnelled into new iconic events and organisations utilising the Mystery Creek Events Centre.

Organisations wishing to apply for event sponsorship and support by the NZ National Fieldays Society can phone 07 843 4497 for more information.
