Ronald McDonald House Charity Golf Day
Charity Golfers in Full Swing to Build New Home Away From Home
Local Golfers to Help Build the New Ronald McDonald House Wellington.
On Friday the 25th of March the Wellington Regional McDonald’s Franchisees will bring together 140 golfers from around the Wellington region to tee off at Boulcott’s Farm Heritage Golf Course and raise money for the new Wellington Ronald McDonald House.
Ronald McDonald House provides a much needed home-away-from-home for families of sick children from outside Wellington. In 2010, 521 families stayed at the House, and demand for services continues to grow.
At only 12 rooms, the current Wellington House is far too small, and every day families are turned away due to lack of room. Raising over 14 million dollars needed for a new 34 bedroom House is a challenging task, and Ronald McDonald House Chief Executive Lesley Slieker, is thrilled at the support shown by the McDonalds Team.
“Having a seriously ill child is a worrisome, scary and stressful experience for families. Families can be away from the comfort and safety of their own home for days, weeks or even months. Our dream is to not turn away any family who needs us, to be able to give them a place to call home when they need it most,” said Mrs Slieker.
