Churton Park Raises funds for Christchurch
A Churton Park Book Club and a local Vodafone employee are helping raise funds for Christchurch. Churton Park School Hall will be set up as a café and there will be second hand books, baking, good quality second hand toys/DVDs/ computer games, and a Tuff-Truks stall (wooden toys). 100% of the profits will go to Christchurch.
“We wanted to do something to help the people of Christchurch who have been affected by the recent earthquakes” says Book Club convenor, Anne Jay.
“Donations of baking, books, toys, DVDs, games and puzzles will be greatly appreciated. Tell your friends, tell your friends' friends, collect books from your workplaces, bake for us, come and support us on the day. Come and sell stuff (100% of profit must go to Christchurch)” says Anne Jay.
“This was a great way to raise funds for Christchurch. It’s also a great opportunity to clear out those books you no longer want. We're also applying for the “Double Your $” employee scheme where Vodafone Foundation matches funds raised for charity on a dollar for dollar basis up to $5,000” said Vodafone Community Affairs Manager and Churton Park resident, Roger Ellis.
The fundraiser will be held at 1.30pm on Sunday 3 April at Churton Park School, 90 Churton Drive.
Donated goods can be left at the Flight Centre, Main Road, Johnsonville; Anglican Church House, 40 Halswater Drive, Churton Park; Cornerstone, Khandallah; or Video Ezy, Johnsonville.
