Sky Tower to light in support of Japan: Monday 4 April
Auckland’s Sky Tower will turn red and white on Monday night to show support for the people of Japan following the devastating earthquake and its impacts last month. The invitation has come from the Empire State Building to the World Federation of Great Towers of which the Sky Tower is a member.
At the start of the date line, the Sky Tower will lead the lighting which is expected to go around the world and encourage people to donate to the cause via the Japanese Consulate’s governmental website http://www.ny.us.emb-japan.go.jp/en/t/2011/110315_02.html. New Zealanders can also donate via the Red Cross who have set up an appeal http://www.redcross.org.nz/donate
The World Federation of Great Towers is an association of international monuments which join together to foster global awareness and develop international opportunities for promotion.
