Draft Energy Policy Shows Stone Aged Thinking
Draft Energy Policy Shows Stone Aged Thinking
“The accidentally released Draft Energy Policy, which is due to go before cabinet for approval says a lot about the thinking of the current Government.
“On one hand, we have the Government calling for a cut in carbon emissions to 50% of the pre 1990 level, yet we have on the other hand a plan that will dramatically increase our contribution to CATASTROPHIC Climate Change.
These aims are certainly mutually exclusive, and one has to wonder if the stated goal of reducing emissions is deliberately misleading.
“New Zealand needs to have a fully informed discussion on the effect go climate change on our economy. Such a discussion needs to be based on our long term goals, rather than short term profit.”
