NZ Bakers Bundraising for Starship Kids

6 April 2011

NZ Bakers Bundraising for Starship Kids

In fact, the Starship Air Ambulance Service has helped bring children in need of treatment out of Christchurch, following the earthquake. 42 patients in 44 hours were flown out of the city by air ambulances including the Star Ship Air Ambulance.

Starship specialist retrieval teams typically have just a matter of hours to bring a patient back to Auckland for care in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit and many patients require specialist medical care and ventilation to stay alive on the trip back to the hospital.

John Beca, Clinical Director of Starship’s Paediatric Intensive Care Unit said: “The Air Ambulance Service is critical to transferring seriously ill children from around the country to Starship and we could not provide the service for New Zealand children without the generous support of companies such as Bakers Delight and their customers.”

Scott Paterson, Country Manager New Zealand at Bakers Delight added: “Easter is by far our busiest time of the year, so it’s a great opportunity to give back to Starship Children’s Hospital.

“We’re hoping to surpass our Bundraiser fundraising effort from last year and we’ll be busy baking to achieve that. We encourage all our customers to make their hot cross bun purchase count on April 9.”

For 31 years Bakers Delight bakers have been hand crafting hot cross buns with real care. This year bakers will be baking fresh each day traditional, fruitless, choc chip and mocha varieties. To locate your local Bakers Delight visit www.bakersdelight.co.nz.

Gordon Campbell: On The Attack Of The Tax Cut Zombies, And A Music Playlist

As long ago as 2007, New Zealanders were telling pollsters that while they wanted tax cuts, a majority of the public opposed tax cuts if the funding for them required cuts to social services. Seventeen years later, we’re still in the same boat. Almost on a daily basis, more evidence is emerging of the public services being scrapped or deferred to fund the government’s tax cuts election bribe, and its $2.9 billion tax handout to landlords. Earlier this week, the disabled community found out via a Facebook post that they are to be the latest victims of cost cutting. For all the government’s talk about being tough on crime, the Police are facing cuts to frontline services...
