Tranzasia Corporation To Provide Canterbury Housing

Media Release

14 April 2011

Temporary Housing, Christchurch

Tranzasia Corporation (www.tranzasiacorp.com) is pleased to be chosen by the Department of Building and Housing as a preferred provider for temporary and emergency housing for people displaced by the Christchurch earthquakes.

The Tranzasia submission is for the provision of affordable, good quality homes, properly landscaped and with a range of ongoing support services for residents.

Director Gerry Walmisley states that “Tranzasia is very pleased with the professionalism of the process to provide a rapid response to temporary accommodation in Christchurch as well as the quality of the selected providers. There will be significant demand for temporary and permanent housing over the next few years and it is important that high quality, affordable products are made available as widely as possible.”

Building temporary housing is only part of the equation; residents will need considerable ongoing support to re-establish in permanent accommodation and also cope with the dramatic changes to their lifestyles. Tranzasia’s approach is focused on a pragmatic but socially and culturally aware process for its housing solutions.

Tranzasia will be employing a large workforce of local labour in construction and ongoing management of its temporary and permanent villages.
