No train station for Raumati – EVER

No train station for Raumati – EVER

NZTA have omitted to tell the people of Kapiti that their change of alignment means that there will NEVER be a train station at Raumati.

The proposed alignment of the Kapiti expressway at the southern entrance is right through the space allocated for Raumati train station car park.

No car park means no station.

I wonder what our esteemed councillors in the Alliance tent think of that ? I ask because pretty much everyone of them (as well as Nathan Guy) vocally supported the station proposal at the last election.

Is this a case of election promises easily broken ? Or simply that they didn't see the inevitable because of the wool over their eyes?

Perhaps somebody should ask them ? Indeed why not ask Mr Guy who during election 2009 promised to "get the WLR built as his number one priority".

Oh and a quote from Mr Turver (failed mayoral candidate) would be "choice".

I think that these people might have something to say on the issue http://www.raumatistation.com/

I hate to say "I told you so" (and that's not entirely true ;-) http://www.kcnews.co.nz/story.php?storyID=4292

It's not what NZTA do say, it is what the omit to say.

For instance NZTA have kindly shown a bridge over Te Moana Road with no soundproofing or lighting at all and no trucks or traffic. Except for one tiny car in the distance.

Why do they not show actual pictures from roads they have already built ? My guess is that they don't look very pretty in reality.
