New Zealand’s Oldest Working Tv to Be Made Digital Live on TV Friday
The country’s oldest working television set is to be made digital live on Breakfast TV on Friday 3 June.
The TV set, whose age is to remain secret until the TVNZ broadcast on TV One, beat almost 300 other entries to win the Going Digital Oldest Telly competition, which was launched to prove that New Zealanders don’t need a new TV to go digital.
The TV set will go digital with the addition of a set top box in order to show that almost any set of any age can be made ready for the switch to digital television.
Greg Harford, national manager for Going Digital, said: “We’re encouraging New Zealanders to tune into Breakfast TV on Friday to see that even the oldest TV can go digital.
“The first switchover in Hawke’s Bay and the West Coast takes place in September 2012 with the rest of the country following over the next 14 months so it’s a good idea for New Zealanders to start planning now.”
