Art Installation Graces Alpine Health & Fitness Walls

The Queenstown Events Centre is delighted to have unveiled an eye catching new mural of the Remarkable Mountains, painted by Marc Spijkerbosch, in the Alpine Health & Fitness group fitness room.

Richie Heap, Alpine Health & Fitness Manager, described the finished product as awesome. “It creates a really unique feeling within the centre that’s very representative of who we are and where we live. It’s definitely something that sets us apart from the usual mirrors and glossy posters which are found in other gyms around the country”.

The mural uses a 3D technique known as “trompe l’oeil” which translates to “deceives the eye”. Marc Spijkerbosch says “The trompe l’oeil device has a tremendous inherent ability to engage the viewer. It is a bridge; a threshold that connects the actual with the imagined. The more I explore the world beyond this threshold, the more exciting and rewarding this discipline becomes.”

People are welcome to call into the Queenstown Events Centre to see the mural when the room is not being used. For more information about artist Marc Spijkerbosch visit http://www.murals.co.nz
