Targa Rotorua

Targa Rotorua

Was this the best Targa Event ever, well if you listen to all the emails and phone calls of support we have received this week then the answer is clearly YES! A huge "Thank You" to everyone involved from Marshall groups to Officials and let's not forget all the participants that braved the difficult conditions on Saturday. Well done to all who made it to the end of Sunday, this is an effort that you should all be very proud of. Congratulations to all the category winners and well done to both Cameron Young who took out the Metalman Classic Competition and Leigh Hooper in the Orafol Modern Competition. The event ran smoothly despite the last minute changes to the route due to unforseen circumstances and the numerous late nights this created for everyone at HQ. The introduction of the new TrackIt results and tracking system had a few teething issues, but despite them was well received by all and we are very happy with this new relationship. There will be some information heading your way from TrackIt shortly, so watch this space.

Dunlop Targa
This is now our focus for the rest of the year and as most of you will know we have change the route to include Northland. Yes we start in Auckland before heading north to Whangarei then returning to Auckland and then head south to Taupo, Palmerston North before finishing in Havelock North. Lots of new roads so everyone will be on a level playing field. If you have not entered yet then get online or call Mandy at the office NOW , the next pricing plan finishes on the 15th June. If you have already entered, then get your mates to join in the fun, don't forget that the Targa Tour is a great place to start if they haven't had a go before. The door knocking for this event starts next week, we think it should take Keith about nine weeks to complete. He only has about 8000 people to visit and will travel around 6500km in the process, so don't expect to see him in the office anytime soon. If anyone is at a loose end and is keen to help, then give us a call at the office, we're sure Keith would welcome the company.

Targa Calendars
The Targa Calendars have arrived and they are fantastic. Thanks to all of you who supported it and got your cars onto the calendar, and if you missed out then please let us know so we can start preparing a list of names for the next one. One calendar was given out to every competitor that entered Targa Rotorua and the remaining 10,000 will be distributed as additional fundraising activities to all the community groups that are involved with the various Targa Events. If you would like to support them and want a calendar or two, then reply to this email and we will get in touch. We have suggested that they be sold for $5 each but feel free to offer them more as we are sure you will agree that they are definitely worth it, oh and they are 12 month calendars starting from October 2011, so they will make great giveaways for your businesses.

That's all for now, but just before we go, another big thank you must go to our loyal sponsors, who really help us make Targa NZ "The Ultimate Road Race". Please support them when you can.
