Nelson Mayor thrilled that residents will get to vote on amalgamation
Nelson Mayor Aldo Miccio is thrilled that the Local Government Commission has today announced that the region will get to vote on a council union.
Miccio says like others he looks forward to seeing the detail of what a union might look like.
“It is great news,” Miccio says. “I want to know as much as everyone else, whether or not a council union will deliver what we assume it will.
“We have always only judged right or wrong on assumptions, but now we will have some facts to base our opinions on,” he says. “I thank the Commission for allowing the process to continue so that the facts will be in front of us, and I look forward to the next stage.”
