17.06.11: Rotorua District Council (RDC) is encouraging
Rotorua residents to keep up their fantastic recycling
habits as upgrades to the In-Town Recycling Centre get
underway next week.
Upgrade work to the centre on Te Ngae Rd kick off on Monday [20 June], and include the construction of two additional recycling bays, a large facility for sale of second-hand goods, and a purpose-built E-waste facility.
RDC works manager Peter Dine says he urges local people not to be put off by the disruptions that will take place over the next few months.
“There will be some inconvenience but please keep coming. The contractor will endeavour to make it as convenient as possible for customers during this period.
“It's important that the community maintains its current high level of recycling which is one of the best in the country. RDC recycles more waste than most comparable cities and towns.
“The new facility will be an asset to the community and will accommodate many of the requests made by the public, including improved safety, handwashing facilities and more.”
Upgrades to the In-Town Recycling Centre are expected to take four months.
