Kaipatiki Local board does not support tolling
Kaipatiki Local board member Vivienne Keohane is Very concerned that information for discussion provided in an agenda, gives information re tolling both a new Harbour Crossing and the Existing Harbour Bridge. Leaving no free route in and out of our City. Page 119 of our Agenda for 14th June The tolls proposed in the last paragraph of that page, mention $6 per trip or $8per trip. Absolutely outrageous, that equates to $60 or $80per week. With no free route, people are expected to go round the Harbour and through the North Western Motorway if they can't afford the tolls. "Get into Public Transport" is the cry from some. If you have tools etc in your van, and other reasons, how can you take Public Transport. Imagine if there is more than one member of a family making the crossing and both unable to carpool because of different working start times. Below is a resolution passed at our meeting on Tuesday 14th June. You will note that Ms Waugh and Ms McIntyre opposed the motion and are happy with the public being fleeced by tolling.
