Motorways clear but delays continue NZTA advises
All lanes and motorways on the Auckland network have re-opened after three separate incidents this afternoon, but the NZ Transport Agency says significant delays will continue during this evening’s peak.
Two crashes on the Southern Motorway near Penrose and Otahuhu, and a gas leak in the suburb of Mt Roskill affecting traffic leaving the Southwestern Motorway (SH20) at Sandringham Road, are responsible for the congestion.
Although all lanes have re-opened, the NZTA says it will take time to clear the queues of traffic that built up on both motorways.
The NZTA is asking people to be patient and drive with care to ensure they reach their destination safely.
