Mayor in the Chair

Mayor in the Chair

Mayor Len Brown will be conducting one of his “Mayor in the Chair” meetings in the Botany Town Centre on Wednesday June 29 between 12 noon and 1pm

He will be in the Conservatory just outside Starbucks,

If you have issues that you wish to raise with the mayor this would be a good opportunity to do so.

Property Valuations under Way

One of the major projects under way is the first Auckland Council rating valuation, which ratepayers will receive in October. Over half a million properties will be valued as part of a process of bringing all the former councils into one valuation cycle.

The capital values (land value plus any improvements) produced by the general revaluation will be used for rating purposes from 2012 rather than the land value or annual value that some former Auckland councils used.

The effective date of the rating valuations will be July 1, 2011. The valuations will be used to calculate rates from July 1, 2012.

The report presented to Council stated that residential property values still on average below the market peak of 2007.

Maiden Speech

I made my maiden speech at Council last week and will feature that in my next newsletter.
