Five students, one apartment, four weeks to win!
Canterbury students welcome the chance to win a five bedroom apartment rent free for 2012 at the Ilam Apartments.
A popular competition run for students where they enter themselves and four lucky friends to win a modern five bedroom apartment, rent-free for the year, launches this Monday (18th July). The competition named: Living on the Edge, encourages students to consider living on-campus in a vibrant student community whilst studying. The Ilam Apartments, situated on-campus at the University of Canterbury are open to all tertiary students from first year right through to PhD level. Lucy Allen-King, Senior Marketing Advisor for UC Accommodation Student Village who manage Ilam Apartments says, “we’re excited to be able to run this competition again, it’s not every day a group of students win a $40,000 prize!
Last year’s winners, Jacob Brown and his mates from CPIT (pictured above) were thrilled to win themselves a year’s worth of accommodation especially post February 22nd, Brown comments, “the facilities are modern, and generous in size, and one big bonus - there's no liquefaction! They must also be built pretty strong because only a bottle of Dolmio pasta sauce fell over in the February quake so the closest thing our flat had to a disaster was no spaghetti bolognaise for dinner.”
The Edge radio station have also organised another $5000 worth of prizes from Christchurch business’ for the lucky winners. Allen-King says, “they’ll get hair cuts from Satchmo Hair, meals from local pub the Fox & Ferret, a $1000 worth of shopping at Northlands shopping mall and a year’s gym memberships at Bodyfix – honestly these guys won’t know what’s hit them, it’s an incredible haul.”
When we quizzed Jacob further about what life is really like at the Ilam Apartments he said, “I guess if I could say one thing about Ilam is that it is "warm" in more ways than one! The people are friendly, welcoming and helpful, but also with Christchurch being such a cold place during a typical university year it is invaluable to come home to a place that's nice and warm.”
Students have until August 12th to get themselves down to the Ilam Apartments on Homestead Lane to put themselves in the draw, alternatively students can take a look at www.livingontheedge.co.nz
