A Classic Hong Kong Comes to Auckland this Thursday
A classic Hong Kong is coming to Auckland this August to celebrate for the third Hong Kong Festival in New Zealand.
On 4 August, the Hong Kong Festival will be officially launched by Auckland Mayor Len Brown at the Auckland Art Gallery, with Brian Brake’s photo exhibition as the backdrop.
Festival Director Raymond Suen said this this year’s Hong Kong Festival has diversified so Aucklanders can see more of Hong Kong’s past, present and future.
“Auckland is the melting pot of New Zealand’s multiculturalism, with a more mobile populations, it is a perfect gateway to introduce the highly talented people of Hong Kong and interact with our local talents.
“Similarly, Hong Kong is the gateway to China and the rest of Asia, taking the lead in creative and commercial industries.
“The Hong Kong Festival 2011 will bring Aucklanders a string of events covering Hong Kong entertainment, an arts and culture experience, professional workshops and business networking opportunities linking both cities together in the next three weeks.”
Other honourable guests include Bonnie Shek, Director of Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Mayor of Nelson Mr Aldo Miccio, Consul Generals and Honorary Consuls, and Labour List MP Raymond Huo .
