Press Release: Women's Self Defence Network
Well done that 11 year old girl!
The Girls’ Self
Defence Project warmly congratulates the 11 year old
schoolgirl from Napier who so bravely fought off an attack
on Monday afternoon. “We are really impressed by her
courageous response to this attack” said Project
spokeswoman Alison Broad. “From our understanding of what
happened, she did everything right. She fought back with
great effectiveness and successfully got to safety and then
told a safe adult about what happened”.
The Girls’
Self Defence Project has taught self defence to thousands of
girls in the Hawkes Bay and East Coast areas over the past
15 years. “We strongly believe in the importance of women
and girls in our communities being taught how to keep safe
from violence and abuse” said Ms Broad.
“While it is
disturbing to hear of any attacks on girls and young women,
it is great when the attacks are so effectively thwarted”
said Ms Broad.

And what rap musician can afford to turn their back entirely on the ‘hood, when staying street and staying real is what their audience demands of them..?
