Public transport numbers:
Transport to and from the Australia v Ireland match at Eden Park ran smoothly.
Roads in the area were normal for a major event at Eden Park and there were no major traffic delays.
All roads in the area were reopened within one hour and 25 minutes.
Special event buses carried 10,930 fans to the match and 10,200 from it. Trains carried 11,370 to the match and 13,100 after.
A total of 22,300 used public transport to get to Eden Park and 23,300 used it after the match.
All crowds using special event buses and trains were cleared within an hour of the match finishing.
Fanzones
1. Queen’s Wharf:
• Queens Wharf steady mid afternoon through to kick-off
• Around 6500 people at Queens Wharf watched the match
• Mass exodus of Queens Wharf at the conclusion of the game
• Steady crowd at Queens Wharf for after game celebrations
Fan Trail report:
• An estimated 6000 people walked to the match along the Fan Trail
• All participants got to the match on time and in good spirits
• Good numbers of match patrons used parts of the Fan Trail to leave the game
Police report:
• Twelve people were people evicted from game, three arrests made
• The rest of town was quiet during the game
• Expected busy time in the Kingsland, Dominion Road and CBD following the match
Fire report:
• Four minor incidents reported around the city and CBD
• One rubbish fire and overheated light at Eden park
St John report:
• 25 people attended to at Eden Park
• One person taken to hospital with suspected heart attack
• One person taken to hospital with anaphylactic reaction
• Four others transported to hospital
