New Caledonian Artists To Perform Alongside Rugby Players
New Caledonian hip hop dance company, Posuë, made up of four dancers and one choreographer, will perform, free of charge, in Wellington on the 30 September and the 1 October. New Caledonian nine-piece band Cada will also put on a free concert at midday for visitors to the Fan Zone on the 1 October.
For the first time members of Cada, who stem from the village of Hienghène, will travel to New Zealand to share their passion for Kanak music – a fusion of traditional Kanak beats and modern music.
The show that Posuë will perform for locals and visitors to the capital, entitled ‘Well’Come’, is about the search for the term Posuë which comes from the island of Lifou and refers to painting the body before traditional ceremonial dances.
The Posuë Company was created in Noumea in December 2008 by Soufiane Karim, who is responsible for the artistic and pedagogical management of the group. Posüe developed the training of hip hop dancers through and for the creation of dance works and public performances. Inspired by the culture of the Pacific, it is based on hip hop culture and the values which it encompasses
