Freehold Info Shop Successful
Hawke’s Bay Regional Council’s shop front information centre in Marewa, earlier this month, was successful, making it easier for 51 more people to discuss freeholding their leasehold land.
The shop front idea put Council’s finance officer John Keenan in the shopping precinct for three days to talk to people wanting to assess their freeholding options.
“There was a strong level of interest, and in the last month we’ve undertaken 30 valuations, and freeholded nine more properties,” said Mr Keenan.
Hawke’s Bay Regional Council is still keen to talk to leesees who want to freehold their properties, and assist them to make the process of doing so as smooth as possible.
The Regional Council is offering a 17.5% discount to residential leaseholders wanting to freehold, and a 10% discount to investor leaseholders for sales and purchase agreements completed by 30 June 2012 .
The Regional Council will also contribute up to $1,000 toward legal fees for cross-leesees who are able to freehold.
