Kathmandu Brings The Ultimate Adventure Race To Chch
September 2011
Spencer Park, Christchurch, New Zealand
Saturday, 8 October 2011
Calling all Adventure racers! For the first time, the Kathmandu Adventure Series is coming to Christchurch.
Following the success of the Kathmandu Adventure Race events across Australia, Christchurch will host the event on Saturday 8 October 2011.
Incorporating mountain biking, kayaking, trail running and navigation on a secret course, the one-day event allows competitors the thrill of a short and fast sprint adventure race, a non-stop event that can take between two and six hours to complete.
Designed for teams of two, the course consists of 15 - 25kms of mountain biking, 5 -10kms of rugged trail running/trekking and 2 - 4kms of kayaking with the multiple legs in each discipline promising an exciting race! The event requires basic navigation skills with all checkpoints reachable via tracks and paths – or for the adventure hungry, it may be faster to go cross-country!
Teams can consist of male, female or mixed participants and there are two entrant categories to choose from – the “Social” category is a shorter course aimed at beginner teams whilst the “Racing” category provides experienced competitors with a longer, more challenging race. To keep all participants on their toes, a natural obstacle in a mystery discipline will be thrown in to spice up the contest.
Adding to the true test of the race, the course is kept secret until the day of the race. Competitors will be given race maps and instructions on the day and race instructions will outline checkpoint details and what equipment can be used.
Entry into this thrilling race
includes race maps for the team, a delicious end of race
meal, a share in over $4,000 worth of prizes from Kathmandu
and importantly, a professionally organised, safe and
enjoyable adventure race.
Kayaks are available for
hire. All you need is a mountain bike and a sense of
adventure!
