Full Closure of Southern Motorway - SH1 Southbound – Between Princes St Off and On ramps

The NZ Transport Agency advises drivers that a section of the Southern Motorway - State Highway 1 (SH1), southbound, between Princes St Off and On ramps, will be closed tonight (Tuesday, 27 September) for erection of an electronic Variable Message Sign (VMS).

The work will be carried out between 10pm and 5am.

The NZTA will have detours in place via Princes St off and on ramps and drivers are asked to follow the signposted route. There will also be a northbound right lane closure during this time to provide a safety zone for the erection of the VMS.

We apologise for any inconvenience, please note that the closure is being carried out at night to cause as little disruption as possible to the motorway network. The VMS will help keep drivers informed of motorway conditions when installed.
