Thousands Expected For One Night Of Spooky Fun!

Thousands Expected For One Night Of Spooky Fun!

On Monday 31st October 4pm – 8pm follow the white rabbit into Civic Square and prepare to adventure into the mad-cap and downright spooky. Capital E’s The Big Halloween keeps getting bigger and better, and this year the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party will be no exception!

Will you dare to ride the dragon in the Jaberwocky’s Lair or brave the sinister cinema? Are you bold enough to show-off your spooky costume on the catwalk? Whatever you choose, be sure not to miss your crazy host for the evening’s antics – The Mad Hatter himself, who will be inviting guests into Capital E for his topsy turvy tea party. Take a seat at the giant table complete with oversized tea set and prepare to be amazed by the weird and wacky performance of Through the Glass Looking by Awkward Productions and Wellington Youth Circus. Then get ready to catch any stray cups and saucers from the juggling Mad Hatter and keep eyes peeled for the Queen of Hearts' marching army band – they’re always on the prowl to break up a good party!

Have you heard Capital E’s McKenzie Theatre is haunted? (For one night only!) The courageous can head to the sinister cinema to enjoy some spooky themed short films from Square Eyes – New Zealand Children’s Film Foundation. Keep your friends close; you just never know who might be sitting behind you!

In Civic Square don’t miss everyone’s favourite Trick or Treat doors – all the fun is in finding out who is behind the door to greet you. Roving performers and live musicians will keep you entertained as you brave the fairground rides, compete in the Mad Hatter Hat Toss or show off your costumes on the stage. This year to celebrate the stars of this Halloween event – the audience and their costumes, the fierce and scary can parade their outfits on the Civic Square spooky catwalk!
