Going Digital At Libraries

Going Digital At Libraries

Tararua residents will get the chance to hear about television going digital at a series of information events during October.

Going Digital community advisor Robin Winter will discuss the changes to television at each of the Tararua Libraries from 26 to 28 October.

"I will be available at each of the libraries to answer questions and provide information about going digital," says Ms Winter. “People can also leave me a question in the question boxes on display at the libraries, and I will answer those by phone.”

"Around 8 out of 10 households in the region have already gone digital and are enjoying better picture and sound quality, additional channels and benefits such as onscreen TV guides. If you already have Freeview or Sky, you have already gone digital and don't need to do anything else.

"You will not need a new TV to go digital because almost any TV can receive a digital signal with the right equipment. You will need Freeview or Sky to continue watching TV after 29 September 2013.”

"Local residents have a choice between using a satellite dish or UHF aerial. UHF is available from the Wharite transmitter, sited near Woodville, which provides coverage to most of central Tararua. For those in hilly and remote areas, a satellite dish will be required."

Ms Winter will be at Eketahuna Library on 26 October from 1 pm to 3 pm, at Pahiatua library on 26 October from 10 am to 12 noon, at Woodville Library on 26 October from 5.30 pm to 7.30 pm, and at Dannevirke Library on 28 October from 10 am to 12 noon.

She is also available at other times to meet and talk with residents and community groups.
