Get set for Second-hand Sunday
Get set for Second-hand Sunday
Whangarei residents are invited to take advantage of the chance to give away unwanted items from outside their properties during the next Second-hand Sunday on 20 November.
All residents can then bag a bargain from other participating households in their area.
"Second-hand Sunday is a chance for Whangarei residents to clear out their clutter," says WDC Solid Waste Engineer John Langsford
"If there is junk hiding in your garage that you no longer want, then Second-hand Sunday is the perfect opportunity to give it away."
Whangarei residents must register to take part in Second-hand Sunday which will run from 9am to 1pm.
Mr Langsford says Second-hand Sunday is one way that residents can reduce the amount of waste they send to the landfill.
"Many of us have items we no longer want. By taking part in Second-hand Sunday, we all have the chance to give the unwanted items to someone who needs them, and avoid rubbish disposal fees at the same time."
Residents can register online via the WDC website or by phoning Council on 4304200 or by completing a registration form and posting it to WDC.
Registrations close at 5pm on Wednesday 9 November and a list of participating addresses will be published on the Council website www.wdcgovt.nz and in the Whangarei Leader on November 15.
