Trade Me’s Treat Me launches mobile deal platform
Trade Me’s group buying website Treat Me launched Treat Me Now today, a new instant deal platform that will see Kiwis sign up to receive great deals from businesses in real-time.
James MacAvoy, Head of Treat Me, said Treat Me Now (www.treatme.co.nz/now/) was an exciting development and a totally new way for deals to be distributed in New Zealand. “Real-time deal platforms have seen people get pretty fizzy overseas and we’re confident Kiwi businesses and consumers will give this idea a big tick,” he said.
“It’s cool for consumers because it’s totally convenient and gives them a world of choice, and it’s cool for businesses because they can create, upload, and unleash deals when it suits them.”
The first Treat Me Now deals are set to emerge in Auckland and Wellington on 1 December. Businesses can sign up from today, with zero commission charged for deals loaded before 24 November and going live between 1 and 22 December. The plan is to extend Treat Me Now into other centres in 2012.
Mr MacAvoy said Treat Me Now had an interesting angle in relation to unused deals. “It’s going to be impulse-proof, so if you buy a deal and don’t get around to using it, we’ll give you a credit you can use to purchase other deals, no questions asked.”
He said all sorts of businesses could take advantage of Treat Me Now. “It lets you call the shots and deals could be live as quickly as within 15 minutes. That’s pretty handy if you want to entice people in for a haircut on a slow morning, fill the seats in your theatre before the movie starts, or have people pop in to check out something new on your breakfast menu.”
Consumers would be able to buy deals via a new Treat Me Now mobile app that will be available to download for free from 1 December 2011. Treat Me Now deals will also be displayed on a dedicated section of Treat Me’s website.
