Guy Fawkes wrap up from New Zealand Fire Service
Statement from the Fire Service
The Fire Service had a relatively quiet Guy Fawkes night with no major incidents reported as being linked to either public displays or private use of fireworks.
There were some minor vegetation and rubbish fires around the country that may be connected to fireworks but we have no further details.
As expected the number of call outs were higher than for other Saturday nights particularly in the drier parts of the South Island. However we are unable to supply any reliable figures until the data has been analysed on Monday.
