Dog Walk Proved Very Popular

Dog Walk Proved Very Popular

Over 70 dogs attended the Anexa Animal Health Dog Walk held on Sunday 13th November at the Polo Grounds on Avenue Road, Morrinsville. “We really enjoyed hosting this event, it was great to see so many dogs attend. We definitely plan to make this an annual event for the Morrinsville community” said vet Jude Tisdall. “This was a great way to celebrate the change in name of our practice from the Animal Health Centre to Anexa Animal Health.”

There were two walks to choose from, taking either 20 minutes or 35 minutes, both following the Kuranui stream. After the walk, everyone enjoyed demonstrations from the Morrinsville Working Dog Club, Dog Agility and Te Aroha Dog Obedience Club. The dog agility course was open for everyone to have a go taking their dog through.

The best dressed and best trick parades were very popular with the crowd. Tyson, the best dressed dog received 15kg of delicious Hills Science Diet food and Norman, winner of the best trick now has a wonderful comfortable new bed. Prizes were also given to the cutest (tough call for the vets to make), fluffiest, most famous and smallest.

Kids were entertained with facepainting and balloons and everyone enjoyed Mr Whippy ice creams, Grab-a-fix slushies and coffee. Profits from the Kiwanis hot food sales went to the Avian Wildlife Rehabilitation Trust, enabling Bill Smith and his team to continue their work with rescued birds.

Feedback from those who attended was also positive. “it was a fantastic day out...my dogs loved it as much as I did and what a sight to see all those wagging tails go off on an adventure! Well done and thank you!!!”
