Lower Hutt Mayor Ray Wallace today congratulated Professor Graham Le Gros, the winner of the science and technology category at last night’s Wellingtonian of the Year Awards.
Hutt City Council sponsors the category and Mayor Wallace says the award provides an opportunity to recognise outstanding intellectual achievements.
“We have many talented professionals in the area of science and technology within the Wellington region. We support this talent by sponsoring this category and demonstrating our commitment to growing science innovation in Lower Hutt and the wider Wellington region.
“Congratulations to Professor Graham Le Gros – a most deserving winner of this year’s award. He is one of the world’s leading researchers in the important field of immunology; specialising in asthma, allergies and parasitic diseases.
“He is an excellent example of the science, research and technology professionals who add vibrancy and innovation to our region and make a positive contribution to society,” he said.
