Good news on Heathcote Valley water issues
Back in May of this year around 60 Heathcote Valley properties were affected by springs which appeared as a result of the September and February earthquakes. Since May the group of affected residents has been endeavouring to get a land remediation solution and satisfactory settlement from EQC to effect the repair of land damage resulting from these springs.
We are delighted to report to the wider Valley community that towards the end of last week EQC offered cash settlement for the majority of these claims. This hard won result has been facilitated by the ongoing action of the combined group of property owners but could not have been achieved without the whole hearted support of Yani Johansen (City Councillor) and Ruth Dyson (MP), who have both followed and facilitated the resolution process.
Thanks also go to senior CCC staff and the Hagley Ferrymead Community Board. The residents gratefully acknowledge and appreciate the huge amount of effort put into the resolution of this complex issue by EQC representative Nick Dench, who has constantly worked on achieving a satisfactory result for all the affected residents.
