Upper Hutt motorcyclists are being encouraged to sign up to an advanced safety skills workshop to enable them to become better riders.
UPPER HUTT, Wellington NZ, 12 MAR 2012—Upper Hutt City Council’s Road Safety Coordinator, Joanne Kinnaird, says the training for experienced motorcycle riders will be held on Saturday 14 April and Sunday 22 April in Lower Hutt, from 9.00 am to 4.30 pm.
The aim of the course is to empower riders to become safer and more aware of the factors that lead to crashes. The course is run by well-respected motorcycle trainer, Andrew Templeton, who has won the region-wide contract to run the training sessions.
“As this training is part of a regional motorcycle training programme this year, we are inviting Upper Hutt riders to attend the Lower Hutt course. A suitable venue for off-road training is being finalised in Upper Hutt,” says Ms Kinnaird. “The courses will be held in central Lower Hutt and it is a great opportunity for Upper Hutt riders to take up the offer for more skills training in the Hutt Valley.”
Upper Hutt has already hosted two advanced sessions which were oversubscribed, so this is a chance for those who missed out to take up the training.
The course is for riders returning to motorcycling after a long break; those who ride regularly who are looking to learn some new riding techniques; and for those just wanting to reinforce good road safety riding habits. The courses are very popular, according to Ms Kinnaird, with available spaces filling quickly. The cost is $20 per person.
A Learners and Restricted motorcycle licence course is being held on 18 March.
