Make an Ad, Win an iPad —water conservation promotion
A new water conservation campaign targeting Upper Hutt youth starts today.
Upper Hutt, 5 April 2012 - Make an ad, win an iPad. That’s the tagline for Upper Hutt City Council’s challenge to the city’s youth in the competition it launched today.
Council sustainability advisor Rod Boys says the competition for 8-24 year-olds is a great way to encourage creative thinking in the city, while helping to get the message across about the importance of water conservation all year round.
“Upper Hutt has some unique water conservation issues, which means that it’s important for people to be aware of their water use, even during winter. We’re really excited by the opportunity to offer this fantastic prize—the latest, top of the line iPad—to a young person or team who can come up with a really creative way to get that message across to people.”
Mr Boys says the competition will be promoted in schools after the holidays, but the Easter break is the perfect time for budding artists and creative types to get their thinking caps on.
“The ad can be in any format, for a newspaper, poster, TV, radio or billboard,” says Mr Boys. “We’re not too worried about the technical quality of the entries. You don’t have to be a fantastic artist to enter. But it does have to be all your own work. And it may even be produced professionally for use city wide. Imagine what that could mean, for anyone looking to start a career in a creative industry!”
