Youth Council Nominations Open Now
Youth Councils around New Zealand are making a difference for the future of Youth and Stratford’s Youth Council is right up there with the best! Now it’s your chance to be involved!
Applications are being taken for new Youth Councillors. Application forms can be picked up from the Stratford District Council, Public Library, and Information Centre and close Thursday 31 May.
“This is a great opportunity for those aged 11 – 24, who are interested in learning new skills, meeting new people, representing the views of your peers, getting involved in organising youth events and having a say about what happens in your community” says Community Development Manager Kate Whareaitu.
Every year a group of community minded youth do their best to make Stratford a better place to live, work and go to school in. Creating a series of local youth-focussed events is one of the many ways they do this.
The Youth Council is currently made up of 13 people aged 11-24 who live, work or go to school in the Stratford District. They meet twice a month in one formal, and one informal meeting.
For more information on how to become a Stratford District Youth Councillor you can talk to one of the current Youth Councillors or contact Sarah at the Council.
