Nominate Your Local Champion!

Every year, hard working locals are recognised by the district for their contribution to the community and their endless giving. It is no different in 2012.

The Stratford District Council again wishes to recognise citizens of all ages who have made, or who are making an outstanding contribution to the general well-being of the Stratford district, with the Citizens’ Awards and the Youth Citizens’ Awards.

District Mayor Neil Volzke says, “There are so many people in our district who work tirelessly for our community and it is a real privilege to be able to acknowledge some of those people.”

Nomination forms for both the Citizens’ Awards and the Youth Citizens’ Awards are available from the Stratford District Council offices, library, information centre or from Council’s website www.stratford.govt.nz. Nominations close 4.30 pm, Friday 15 June 2012 and a presentation ceremony will be held on 11 July.

Mayor Volzke said “I encourage residents to think about people in our community who quietly and efficiently give so much of themselves. This is a perfect opportunity to appropriately acknowledge these people”, he said.

Last year’s recipients were: Joy Neild, Gavin Belton and Jeff Walker.
