No Need for Snow Chains in Canterbury This Winter

No Need for Snow Chains in Canterbury This Winter

As winter fast approaches, a high-end Christchurch tourism business is set to take the hassle out of getting to the ski fields of Canterbury, New Zealand.

Canterbury Guiding Co. is offering private transfers directly to the regions ski mountains, meaning that visitors can admire the views without the need to get dirty putting snow chains on their vehicle.

“The Canterbury region offers some of the finest skiing available in the Southern Hemisphere” says David Hiatt, General Manager of Canterbury Guiding Co. “But when we talked with international visitors, driving to the ski fields was of concern”.

Canterbury Guiding Co. will offer this door to door private service from Christchurch hotels and luxury lodges, throughout the New Zealand winter.

“Our guides will pick up guests from their hotel and drive them across the Canterbury Plains, whilst they enjoy freshly baked muffins and coffee, or even enjoy an extra hours sleep”, says Hiatt. “Once on the mountain we will arrange lift passes and co-ordinate any gear hire or lessons that might be required.”

“Our role is not just to drive them safely to the mountain, but make their day as easy as possible so they can just have fun”.

Focussing on the premium market, Canterbury Guiding Co. works with both international and domestic clients. This winter service is an extension of Canterbury Guiding Co’s successful private guiding business which provides exclusive tours and unique experiences throughout the Canterbury region.

“Whilst winter is slower than our busy summer period, Canterbury attracts a large number of skiers and snowboarders from Australia, as well as domestically. This service will allow our guests to focus on enjoying their ski holiday without fear of driving on alpine roads or requiring to put snow chains on themselves.”

“We use late model four wheel drive vehicles, but if chains are needed, our guests can happily stay warm inside while our guides do the dirty work in the cold”, Hiatt says.

As well as providing private return road transfers to the ski fields , Canterbury Guiding Co. are launching a spectacular helicopter option for guests looking for that something extra special. A helicopter will pick guests up from the mountain and take them for a wonderful alpine flight along the Southern Alps.

Return day transfers from Christchurch hotels and luxury lodges with Canterbury Guiding Co. start from just NZ$225 per person, depending on group size. This rate includes road transfers, freshly baked muffins, hot and cold drinks on route, as well as warm soup and a local beer or wine at the conclusion of a successful day on the ski mountain. Gourmet picnic lunches, lift tickets, ski hire and scenic helicopter flights are available at an additional cost.
