10 Nominated for Civic Honours
Ten hard-working volunteers who work in a wide variety of organisations and carry out diverse roles, have been nominated for Whangarei’s Civic Honours this year.
All 10 nominations arrived at Council on the very last day of the nomination period.
The selection panel will meet to select up to four recipients on 12 June. Their selection will be confirmed by Council on 27 June. Following that the recipients will be contacted, and their citations will be prepared.
The celebration and award ceremony will be held on 22 August.
Honours Committee chairperson Councillor Shelley Deeming said the awards were a real highlight of the year, and an opportunity to really understand and appreciate people who give to the community, behind the scenes, sometimes for decades without recognition.
