Public Meeting Cancelled
The public meeting scheduled to be held in Dunedin at the Regent Theatre next Wednesday June 13 has been cancelled in light of National Government’s decision to abandon changes to pupil-teacher ratios.
Association President Brent Caldwell says, “We owe a huge debt of gratitude to all the parents, boards of trustees and teachers around Otago and New Zealand for the way in which they voiced their concerns and made the government see sense on this issue.
The point made very
clearly by New Zealand’s parents is that our children and
their education matter. The sheer volume of email, letters,
public opinion and social networking underpinned by the
views and concerns of the entire teaching profession won the
day. The Minister is to be commended for listening to these
concerns and acting on
them.”
